Youth Mission Scholarship 2026 Recipients
We are very grateful for a special donation to the ON MISSION priority of the Diocese which has enabled us to award three Youth Mission Scholarships of $1000 each. The Scholarship is awarded each year to a youngster under the age of 25 who is active in their own parish and who will be on a cross-cultural mission. This year the scholarships have been awarded to:
Simon - Vancouver, BC
Simon is 17 years old and attends St. John’s Vancouver where he has assisted with the Vacation Bible Camps and was part of their mission team to Nepal. This fall he will be going to New Zealand for the the YWAM Outdoor Pursuits discipleship training school. The first three months will focus on classroom Bible teaching plus local outreach initiatives. The following three months will be a mission trip into a foreign country to assist with evangelism and outreach.
Luke - Lethbridge, AB
Luke is 25 years old and attends Christ the Redeemer Lethbridge. Luke previously served in the Dominican Republic with T.E.A.R.S. assisting at one of their elementary schools and in health care initiatives. This summer he will be returning to the Dominican Republic to organize and lead a variety of Christian sports camps for students during the first couple weeks of their summer break. There are 13 on this mission team, from a variety of churches across Alberta.
Alexander - Vancouver, BC
Alexander is a 17 year old student attending St. John’s Vancouver. Alexander has already been on a mission trip to Nepal. This time he will be attending the YWAM three month discipleship training school in New Zealand. While in New Zealand he will be participating in local outreach and evangelism each week. Following the successful completion of the discipleship training school he will then undertake a two month mission trip to a location in Southeast Asia or the Pacific islands where he will be doing evangelism, relationship building with the unchurched, encouraging the local churches and helping with local ministries.
Please pray for the safety and good health of these youngsters and for the wonderful success of their mission initiatives.
