Report from the 2025 Youth Mission Scholarship

For the last several years our On Mission priority has given a Youth Mission Scholarship of $1000 to a young person (under 25) who is engaging in Christian cross-cultural mission for service or evangelism.

Charlotte, a grade 12 graduate from St. George’s Burlington (now living in Moose Jaw) was the recipient in 2025.  She completed the Discipleship Training program with YWAM and then undertook various mission initiatives in Thailand.  Here is Charlotte’s report.

From July to the beginning of December, I have had the life-changing experience of doing a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with the organization Youth  With A Mission (YWAM). More specifically, I attended the Mountain Venture Discipleship Training School (MVDTS) in Sheep River/Turner Valley, where I spent the initial three months learning about the core tenets of the faith and their implications for my life. How being a follower of Jesus is reflected in how I attend church, worship, evangelize, pray, teach, and approach missions.

The remaining two months was spent overseas in Thailand, where my team and I used what we had learned to run church services and kids ministry programs, evangelize in malls and street markets, teach children while sharing the gospel, and make house visits. During our time in Thailand, we had the honour of witnessing sixteen people give their lives to Jesus, and the pleasure of helping ministries build relationships with unreached people like the Shan, an unreached people group Sheep River/Turner Valley has been called by God to focus on.

My entire DTS experience, not only my time in Thailand, has grown my heart for evangelism, prayer, and community. God used the five months to teach me lessons that will impact my life, and God willing, the lives of those around me, for His glory.
