Prayer Calendar - July 2025

Pray with us each day this month for different leaders, congregations and ministries across our diocese and beyond.

  1. We pray for Bishop Dan Gifford, our diocesan bishop and area bishop for the East, as he cares for and shepherds our clergy and congregations in the Eastern half of the country and across our diocese. We pray also for his wife, Cathryn, and their family.
We pray also for our nation on this Canada Day.
Almighty God, whose wisdom and love are over all: Accept the prayers we offer for Canada, and give integrity to its citizens and wisdom to those in authority, that harmony and justice may be secured in obedience to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen. (BCP 2019)

  2. We pray for Bishop Mike Stewart, our suffragan bishop and area bishop for the West, as he cares for and shepherds particularly our clergy and congregations in the Western half of the country. We pray also for his wife, Marianne, and their family.

  3. We pray for Bishop Stephen Leung, suffragan bishop for our Asian and Multicultural Ministries in Canada(AMMiC), as he cares for and shepherds particularly the clergy and congregations within AMMiC. We pray also for his wife, Nona, and their family.

  4. We pray for our province of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), in which we are one of thirty dioceses. We especially pray for our Primate, Archbishop Steve Wood (& Jacqueline), for the College of Bishops, Provincial Executive Council and the Provincial staff. Learn more: anglicanchurch.net
We pray also for the United States on this Independence Day.

  5. We pray for our Episcopal Fellowship of Bishops, and specifically for those retired from official responsibilities: Bishops: Ron Ferris (& Jan), Grant LeMarquand (& Wendy), Charlie Masters (& Judy), Don Harvey (& Trudy), Trevor Walters (& Dede), and Malcolm Harding (& Marylou). We give thanks to God for their years of service and the Gospel-ministry they continue to support across our diocese and beyond.

  6. We pray for church planting across the country, for our Canon for Church Planting, George Sinclair, and our Church Planting Committee as they help direct these efforts. We pray for an abundance of funding and leaders for many future church plants. And we pray for our current plants and projects including: Emmanuel Winnipeg, MB (coming); Via Caronport, SK; All Saints Calgary, AB; Good Shepherd Burnaby, BC; King’s Cross Burnaby, BC; and Redemption Church Charlottetown, PEI. 7. We pray for all our children and youth ministries across the diocese. Coming out of our last synod, we are giving special focus this year to these ministries. Please pray for new ministries to be formed, current ministries to grow and be strengthened, and that all our churches would disciple children and youth well.

  8. We pray that all our congregations and ministry would be Biblically grounded. We pray for our preachers, teachers, leaders and members, that all we do would be grounded upon, formed by and fueled through the good news of Jesus Christ, passed down in Holy Scripture.

  9. We pray that all our congregations and members would rightly see ourselves as on mission in this world, as ambassadors for Christ. May we see the needs of others–body, spirit and soul–in our communities and around the world and sacrificially give to love them well.

  10. We pray for our efforts to proclaim the Gospel across the diocese. We pray that each of our members, young and old, would be equipped, encouraged and commissioned as bold witnesses for the good news of Jesus. We pray that we would always share this news faithfully, Biblically and with much joy.

  11. We pray for our Asian & Multicultural Ministries in Canada (AMMiC), as they minister within communities of ethnic minorities and new immigrants, seeking to make disciples and plant churches. You can learn more about this important work at ammic.ca

  12. We pray for our diocesan Curacy Program where support is provided to young clergy so they can take curacy positions in some of our congregations. We pray for prospective curates, rectors to mentor them, congregations to welcome them and the funds to expand this program. Learn more: dioceseofcanada/curacy-program

  13. We pray for Packer College, our diocesan theological college, resident at the Church of the Good Samaritan in St. John’s, NL. We pray for their newly-appointed principal Dr. Gary Graber, new staff members, their faculty and students both in St. John’s and online. Learn more: packercollege.ca

  14. We pray for Diocesan Council, which provides governance for our diocese in between synods. We pray for the five lay and five clergy members, along with our diocesan bishop, that they would be blessed with all wisdom and discernment as they seek to watch over and care for the diocese well.

  15. We pray for our Diocesan staff, based in Burlington, Ontario, as they provide direction and administration to our diocesan finances, policies, events, and communication, and assist our bishops, council and clergy.

  16. We pray for the job openings we have across the diocese. We pray for wisdom and discernment for each congregation in their search for these ministry leaders, and for excellent candidates to be provided for each important role. Learn more: dioceseofcanada.ca/jobs
