ACNA Provincial Council 2025

Dear friends,
Beginning June 16, 2025 our ACNA College of Bishops will meet in Ambridge, PA (near Pittsburgh), followed by the annual ACNA Provincial Council meeting, representing the 29 dioceses of our Province. From our diocese Rev. Howard Edwards (our Executive Director) and Mike Tweedle (National Director of the ARDFC) will serve as our clergy and lay delegate. A highlight will be hearing from the ministries that the Province supports, including Always Forward which assesses, trains and mentors church planters to equip the work of church planting in our diocese.  We will then pass a budget which makes these ministries possible. Please pray for us as we represent our Diocese of Canada in this important gathering.

I also want you to know that Archbishop Steve Wood will preside at this gathering and has a very high regard for the place of our diocese in the ACNA.  He has shared with me that he is particularly concerned about the tense political relationship which Canada and the US currently experience, and that our unity together in the Gospel is far more important.  Therefore at the Provincial Council he intends to express to our diocese on behalf of the ACNA Province how much they value our presence and family partnership in the Gospel. You will find a letter below from Archbishop Steve which expresses his deep appreciation for us.

Thank you for your prayers for our gatherings next week.  May God strengthen the work of the Gospel in the churches of North America through our time together.

Yours in our Lord Jesus,

+Dan
The Right Reverend Dan Gifford
Diocesan Bishop

From Archbishop Steve Wood:

Archbishop Steve Wood

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As the Provincial Council of the Anglican Church in North America prepares to gather next week, I want to extend a personal and heartfelt welcome to you - my Canadian family in Christ - in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

I recognize that for some in our Canadian church family the geopolitical tensions between our nations may stir a range of thoughts and emotions. I understand that. Let me be clear, though: as we gather, we do so as the redeemed people of God - saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and incorporated into His Body. Our unity in the gospel and our fellowship in Christ far surpass any political or national divisions.

The Anglican Church in North America is immeasurably richer because of your faithful presence and gospel witness. I am grateful for the opportunity to welcome you personally next week.

Yours warmly and fraternally in Christ Jesus,

Abp Steve
