Sharing Jesus this Advent

During the Advent season—as we approach Christmas—many people find themselves more open to hearing about Jesus. His story still echoes around us in songs and cards, in ornaments and pageants. The beauty and wonder of a Saviour-child born and laid in a manger, with angels and stars announcing His coming to shepherds and foreigners, stirs something in every human heart. What a perfect time, then, to open the book that tells His story. What a wonderful opportunity to offer that story to family, friends, and colleagues who may already sense that gentle beckoning.

One way many are doing just that is through The Word One to One. This simple set of booklets (or the app!) invites you and someone else to sit together in John’s Gospel and explore what the Bible reveals about this Saviour-child, Jesus. It allows you to be a humble “page-turner,” trusting God’s written word to do its work. For it is by His Spirit, working through the gospel, that God opens the heart and gives faith in Christ. And many have found—sometimes to their astonishment—that even within the first chapter of John, people have been deeply moved and have received Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

So this Advent and Christmas, may we all look for opportunities to open God’s word with others—and see what He may do in human hearts.
